Course Description

This module provides operators with an integrated review of alkalinity,
oxidation, jar testing, and coagulant setup as they relate to treatment optimization and
corrosion control. Learners learn to apply jar-testing fundamentals, interpret key
corrosion-related parameters, and select monitoring tools that support consistent process
performance. The module emphasizes how field devices and operator techniques drive
effective chemical treatment and long-term system stability.

Learning Objectives

1) Explain alkalinity vs oxidation in treatment

2) Use jar testing as a process simulator

3) Set up chemical coagulants effectively

4) Recognize impacts on corrosion control

5) Apply heating/monitoring device info operationally

Agenda

1) Alkalinity and oxidation principles relevant to treatment performance

2) Jar testing fundamentals, including purpose, setup, and application

3) Selection, preparation, and use of chemical coagulants for process control

4) Key corrosion‑related parameter relationships affecting system stability

5) Overview of monitoring devices and essential operator tools for field assessment

Target audience

Operators at the intermediate to advanced level (Operator 2–3) performing jar testing, coagulant adjustments, or corrosion-related process control.
