Asset Management
Course Pack: Asset Management
Asset Management Part 3
Course Description
The final part of this course provides Advanced Asset Management Training for water and wastewater professionals, focusing on the technical strategies used to optimize asset performance and support long-term infrastructure planning. Learners explore criticality-based decision making, repair and replacement scheduling, lifecycle cost analysis, and financial planning techniques that improve operational efficiency and investment outcomes. The module demonstrates how data analytics, risk assessments, and asset performance metrics support defensible maintenance and capital improvement decisions. Participants are also introduced to emerging trends, including climate resilience strategies and advanced condition assessment technologies, that strengthen system reliability, sustainability, and long-term asset value.
Learning Objectives
1) Explain the role of procedures in extending asset life and reducing lifecycle costs, including the distinctions between corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
2) Apply criticality based reasoning to prioritize maintenance and capital decisions using likelihood and consequence of failure frameworks.
