Water and Wastewater Disinfection
Course Pack: Treatment Foundations
Delivered Chemicals Are Exactly As Specified
Course Description
This module provides operators with the skills required to perform accurate
dosage calculations, validate dose tables, and assess chemical performance using approved
testing methods. Instruction covers colorimetric, turbidity, and titration techniques, as well as
operational factors—such as pump sizing and flow variability—that affect dosing accuracy.
Emphasis is placed on verifiable documentation and control measures that support regulatory
reporting and compliance.
Learning Objectives
1) Perform dosage calculations and use dose tables appropriately
2) Explain how pump size and flow affect dosing accuracy
3) Select and interpret common testing methods (colorimetric, turbidity, titration)
4) Set operational controls to limit residual excursions
5) Document calculations and test results for verifiable reporting
Agenda
1) Dose math refresher: inputs, units, common pitfalls
2) Dose tables: when to use them and how to validate
3) Testing methods overview: strengths/limits and quality checks
4) Pump sizing impacts: why right-sized matters
