Course Description

This module introduces the principles of pump technology used in chemical
feed systems, including pump types, sizing criteria, and control components. Learners learn to
apply flow- and demand-based calculations to establish correct pump settings and verify system
performance. Troubleshooting methods addressing leaks, de-gassing, equipment compatibility,
and automation interfaces are also covered.

Learning Objectives

1) Identify common pump types and where they are applied

2) Explain sizing considerations: flow, demand, compatibility, control

3) Describe control components (injectors, sensors, bypass valves) and roles

4) Apply dose calculation concepts to pump settings and verify performance

5) Recognize and mitigate leaks, spills, and de-gassing issues

Agenda

1) Pump technology overview: types and selection criteria

2) Sizing fundamentals: flow, demand curves, compatibility

3) Control components: sensors, injectors, bypass valves, automation

4) Dose calculations: translating targets into pump settings

5) Troubleshooting: leaks, spills, de-gassing, control failures

Target audience

Operators, maintenance technicians, and supervisory personnel involved in chemical feed, pumping operations, or system troubleshooting.
