PPE Safety
Course Description
This module provides a comprehensive overview of PPE safety and personal protective equipment used in utility environments, including eye, face, head, hand, foot, hearing, and respiratory protection. Learners learn proper selection, fit, use, inspection, storage, and limitations of PPE, along with employer and employee responsibilities under OSHA Subpart I. The training includes documentation practices, SCBA awareness, and how PPE integrates with engineering and administrative controls.
Learning Objectives
1) Identify common workplace hazards and the PPE that controls each risk (eye, face, head, hand, foot, hearing, respiratory).
2) Select, don, doff, and maintain PPE per manufacturer instructions and site SOPs.
3) Explain employer and employee responsibilities under OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart I.
4) Recognize PPE limitations and when to escalate controls using the hierarchy of controls.
5) Document PPE inspections and training to support compliance and audits.
